And the ass saw the angel of Jehovah standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand; and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.

And the ass saw the angel of the Lord waiting in the road with his sword in his hand; and turning from the road, the ass went into the field; and Balaam gave the ass blows, to get her back on to the road.

και ιδουσα η ονος τον αγγελον του Κυριου ισταμενον εν τη οδω, και την ρομφαιαν αυτου γεγυμνωμενην εν τη χειρι αυτου, εξεκλινεν η ονος εκ της οδου και υπηγαινεν προς την πεδιαδα· και εκτυπησεν ο Βαλααμ την ονον, δια να επαναφερη αυτην εις την οδον.
