Now when all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poorest of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;

Now when it came to the ears of all the captains of the forces who were in the field, and their men, that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, ruler in the land, and had put under his care the men and women and children, all the poorest of the land, those who had not been taken away to Babylon;

Ακουσαντες δε παντες οι αρχηγοι των στρατευματων των εν τω αγρω, αυτοι και οι ανδρες αυτων, οτι ο βασιλευς της Βαβυλωνος κατεστησε Γεδαλιαν τον υιον του Αχικαμ επι την γην και ετι ενεπιστευθη εις αυτον ανδρας και γυναικας και παιδια και εκ των πτωχων της γης, εκ των μη μετοικισθεντων εις την Βαβυλωνα,
