And it was so, that, at what time the chest was brought unto the king’s officers by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king’s scribe and the chief priest’s officer came and emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to its place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance.

So when the chest was taken to the king's servants by the Levites, and they saw that there was much money in it, the king's scribe and the chief priest's servant took the money out, and put the chest back in its place. They did this day by day, and got together a great amount of money.

Οτε δε εφερετο το κιβωτιον προς τους επιστατας του βασιλεως δια χειρος των Λευιτων, και οτε αυτοι εβλεπον οτι ητο πολυ το αργυριον, ηρχετο ο γραμματευς του βασιλεως και ο επιστατης του ιερεως του πρωτου, και εξεκενονον το κιβωτιον και φεροντες εθετον αυτο παλιν εις τον τοπον αυτου. Ουτως εκαμνον καθ' ημεραν και συνηγαγον αργυριον πολυ.
