As they were going down at the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us (and he passed on), but stand thou still first, that I may cause thee to hear the word of God.

And on their way down to the end of the town, Samuel said to Saul, Give your servant orders to go on in front of us, (so he went on,) but you keep here, so that I may give you the word of God.

Καθως δε κατεβαινον εις το τελος της πολεως, ειπεν ο Σαμουηλ προς τον Σαουλ, Προσταξον τον υπηρετην να περαση εμπροσθεν ημων· και εκεινος επερασε· συ ομως σταθητι ολιγον, και θελω σοι αναγγειλει τον λογον του Θεου.

And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.

As they were going down at the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, “Tell the servant to go on ahead of us.” He went ahead, then Samuel said, “But stand still first, that I may cause you to hear God’s message.”
