And Joshua took Makkedah on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof: he utterly destroyed them and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining; and he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done unto the king of Jericho.

That day Joshua took Makkedah, and put it and its king to the sword; every soul in it he gave up to the curse without mercy: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.

Και εν εκεινη τη ημερα εκυριευσεν ο Ιησους την Μακκηδα, και επαταξεν εν στοματι μαχαιρας αυτην και τον βασιλεα αυτης· εξωλοθρευσεν αυτους και πασας τας ψυχας τας εν αυτη· δεν αφηκεν υπολοιπον· και εκαμεν εις τον βασιλεα της Μακκηδα, καθως εκαμεν εις τον βασιλεα της Ιεριχω.
